Datsun 240Z Full Restoration
A complete restoration of one of Japan's most iconic classic sports cars.
This Datsun 240Z is undergoing a full restoration at Competition Classics. Following extensive body preparation, the shell has now been repainted and returned to our East Sussex workshop, where the next stage of the rebuild is about to begin.
From this freshly painted shell, our team will rebuild the car systematically, restoring and installing the mechanical, electrical, braking, suspension, interior and trim components before final setup and road testing.
A Complete Datsun 240Z Restoration
With the bodywork and paint completed, attention now turns to rebuilding the 240Z from the shell upwards.
Each stage will be carefully completed in our workshop, including the preparation and installation of the suspension and braking systems, drivetrain, wiring and electrical systems, engine bay components, interior, exterior trim and final detailing.
As the project progresses, we'll document the transformation on this page, providing an insight into the workmanship and attention to detail involved in a full Competition Classics restoration.
From Painted Shell to Finished Datsun 240Z
The freshly painted bodyshell provides the foundation for the next phase of the restoration. Starting with a bare shell allows components and systems to be installed methodically, while giving our technicians access to areas that become difficult to reach later in the build.
The result will be a Datsun 240Z rebuilt as a complete car rather than simply a collection of refurbished components — with each system considered as part of the finished vehicle.
Considering a Datsun 240Z Restoration
Whether you have a Datsun 240Z requiring a complete nut-and-bolt restoration or another classic car needing mechanical, body or restoration work, Competition Classics can manage the project from initial assessment through to completion.
